That means it is time to start planning for the holidays. I pull out my planner and note all the activties and travel days. We go out of state a least once during the season so I block that time. I note the potential parties and approximate times so I will not doublebook. I look at my Christmas lists, make the corrections on addresses and note how many cards and stamps I need to purchase. I check the gift closet to make sure I have an extra stash of creative items to fill in for last minute hostess gifts. I even look at new recipes and start purchasing ingredients when they are on sale. I plan my extra cleaning days for the china cabinet, dishes, light fixtures, etc. When it is time for the guest to arrive, I am ready and relaxed because I did most of the work in advance. Do you need help to prepare for a more relaxed holiday?

Mandy needs someone to hold her hand to even get started on an organization project. She was never taught how to clean, organize, or cook. She married a person who does not have a lot of those skills either. They have two young girls children with rooms full of stuff that of course is not organized . She at least agreed she despartely needed help and was willing to allow someone to help her get started.
I gave her a suggestion for a small task in the kitchen and helped her set some simple steps of action she agreed she could follow through with and then told her we would celebrate her accomplishments in a unique way.
She was very successful, we celebrated and she is now committed to do another small task.
Very soon she will be in the habit of adding a task a week, while keeping the last area in order, so she can see some real change in the declutter process.
The more areas she maintains and the more she celebrates the more energy she will aquire to declutter all her surroundings and maintain them. She is realizing how much more energy and time she is giving herself as she declutters her home.

I helped my church with a garage sale last week. What a good way to practice my own advice and teach others how to organize, price and run a successful sale. We met a lot of people in the area, sold a lot of items, and gave the remainder to a battered womens shelter. Now we get to spend the $$$ we made. OH BY THE WAY, it was also fun. Need tips to pull of a great sale. declutteryourstuff@gmail.com
